Our Home Away From Home

CAMPER WAS SOLD IN NOVEMBER OF 2006.

Due to our inability to utilize the Camper as much as we used to, we decided to sell it in 2006.  We really loved the times that we had with it and look forward to getting a motor home in the future.

Upgrades Added

Fantastic Fan
This is one upgrade that I will recommend to anyone that has a camper or RV.  The little fan that came with the camper just wasn't cutting it.  The old fan would barely create any breeze at all!  After I installed the Fantastic Fan in the bathroom you definitely can feel a breeze when it is on!  There are three vents and two of them are now Fantastic Fans!!!  This is a must have in our opinion!!

Flush King
I know, I know... It's a nasty thing that no one likes to talk about, but we have to.  On our first trip out I noticed that the sensors for my tanks didn't seem to work right.  Well, I suppose that there was something on the sensor making it read wrong because when I used the Flush King, a lot more stuff came out that supposedly wasn't in there when I pulled the valve the last time and my sensors were reading right again.  We stayed at camp for 5 days and I flushed the tanks twice.  It only takes 5 minutes or so, but you wouldn't believe what gets left behind if you don't flush them!  The Flush King is definitely the King in my book.  If you are sick of dragging the hose inside or just not knowing what's left in there, get this!!!

RV Vent Plug
It's nothing extraordinary, but it is a great idea.  It adds a little insulation and blocks the light from your vent when you need it.  We bought it for those really hot days to help retain some of the cool A/C.  Great Idea!

Campgrounds
We are giving each a rating by the number of tents.  (1=poor 5=great)

Bayshore Estates - Sandusky, Ohio (1/2 mile from Cedar Point)
We stayed at this campground from 7/29/03 - 7/31/03.  We setup in Site #140 all the way at the end to the right side of the park.  This campground was very nice.  The grass was all well kept, the roads were great, the pool looked very nice, and the sites were fairly large.  We would recommend that you ask for a site to the left of the office as you come into the park since there is a train that can be heard from where we were, but we were on the very end.  Each site has a nice picnic table and a nice fire pit.  We were very happy with our stay there!  They have a shuttle that goes from there to Cedar Point throughout the day.  It's also only a half mile drive from the park!

Basswood Inn and RV Resort - North Kansas City, Mo Area
We stayed at this campground from 7/17/03 - 7/21/03.  We setup in Site #9 directly across from a playground and two lakes/ponds.   We would definitely recommend a stay at this campground, we really enjoyed our stay.  The staff was very friendly from my first interactions with them.  The General Store was stocked with about anything you might need while you are camping!  The grounds were very clean and well kept.  Security was seen at all times, day and night, patrolling the grounds.  We didn't fish, but it seemed like a lot of people were and they seemed to be doing well.  We also didn't swim, but the pool looked very nice and quite a few people seemed to enjoy it.  If you do go there, we would recommend an 'Up Top' site, as those seemed to be a bit larger or a deluxe site which had a deck on it that seems very nice!  Also, if you don't have kids, you may want to get a site away from a playground.  It didn't bother us, but it might bother some.  Overall though, we would definitely recommend this campground to anyone visiting the KC area!

Pigeon Forge KOA - Pigeon Forge, TN area
We stayed at this campground in the Fall of 2001 in our van on a primitive site.  This campground was one of the nicest campgrounds we have seen.  The grounds were extremely clean.  We used the showers in the bathhouse since we didn't have a camper yet and they were so clean that it almost made our home shower look bad!!!  The staff was very nice.  There is a stream running along the lower part of the grounds and it was clean and looked very nice as well.  We are planning another trip there with the camper in the Fall of 03.
